Educational Issues Divide Election Endorsements From Abbot And Cruz

There is a new dividing line between Senator Ted Cruz and Governor Greg Abbot’s runoff endorsements related to non-public school campuses and charter schools. As for James Barragán, the political reporter of The Texas Tribune, the endorsements concern the GOP push to finance the education of children at those schools and campuses.

According to the Texas Tribune colleagues of Barragán, the endorsements of Cruz in the runoffs are opposite of those of Abbot in the same electoral contest. Barragán states that the decisive factor seems to be distinctions on school vouchers and school choice, but it has raised a few eyebrows.

In other news, Wendy Davis of the Democratic Party has challenged the abortion law of Texas, and Republican donor Steven Hotze from Houston got indicted on multiple felony charges. For more pieces of news from the recent week in Texas politics, feel free to listen to the Texas Standard audio player.
