The Republican Congressperson of North Texas, Representative Van Taylor, is among the state’s most conservative legislators. However, a vote associated with the January 2021 Capitol insurrection has turned into a reelection-related issue.
As for Texas Tribune Reporter James Barragán, Taylor is in a state primary with big questions about not only support for Donald Trump but also the insurrection.
Taylor voted in favor of a bipartisan legislative committee for looking into the 2021 incident. The legislation did not materialize, and no committee of that sort was formed. However, Taylor’s opponents are still using it against him and claiming that he has “gone Washington”.
