Wendy Davis To Run For Congress

Texas politics, Wendy Davis to run for congress

In the recent past, Texas’s Republican Congressperson Pete Olson said that he would retire and would not compete for reelection. Now, Democratic Party members are expecting to flip the seat of Olson. The US election could just be like that of Representative Beto O’Rourke’s successful attempt to flip suburbs and districts across Texas during the midterm elections held three years ago.

In other news, Wendy Davis also announced that she would compete to represent the 21st Congressional District of Texas and attempt to unseat GOP Chip Roy. Once a Chief of Staff (CoS) for Senator Ted Cruz, Chip Roy won in the Congressional election held three years before. Davis also raised a whopping $250,000 over the 24 hours after her announcement, which was way less than what Chip Roy raised over three months.

There are challenges for Davis in the election, but she may become the winner as she has recognition and is popular among the Democrats.

Royce West said that he would compete in the 2020 US Senate elections, alongside fellow Democrats MJ Hegar and Amanda Edwards. All of them are expecting to defeat incumbent GOP Senator John Cornyn. The election cycle of 2018 emboldened Democratic Party members to attempt to turn the State of Texas purple, so to speak.
