Why Democratic Party Members In Washington Attend More Zoom Conferences

Texas Democratic Party Members left the recent legislative session just to break the quorum. Now, many of them are vaccinated but they have COVID-19 positive test results. As for Ben Philpott, who covers political news for Austin’s KUT 90.5 FM, the positive COVID-19 tests have slowed down the traditional work of legislators with other Democratic Party members in Washington. Legislators state that they have minor symptoms or do not have symptoms.

Legislators have assessed the situation for some days, but they would keep working in a greater number of those conferences with Congresspersons to have federal voting bills passed.

A 2003 Democratic walkout slowed down the enactment of a redistricting-related legislation proposal from many GOPs. These Republican Party members were set to take advantage of the redrawn boundaries, and they gained seats in US Congress. As for Philpott, that way, this year’s quorum break also resembles the past walkout.

Philpott said that House Democrats went away from Texas in 2003’s first session of special legislation. In the next session, Democratic senate members left. Philpott also said that he gets the impression that there would not be a second walkout with regard to the Senate this time around.

The City of Austin is now in its Stage 4 of COVID-19 regulations, including a recommendation for residents to use masks indoors, irrespective of their vaccination status. In the recent past, Texas Governor Greg Abbott stated that he would not enforce a new statewide mask mandate.
