Matt Krause To Run For Texas Attorney General

Another Republican Party member has entered the Texas attorney general race. Representative Matt Krause of Texas is among the three serious GOP candidates in this race. There are also two Democratic Party members in it. A House Freedom Caucus member, Krause has previously been in a close association with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

As per The Texas Tribune’s reporter James Barragán, Krause feels that the continuing legal troubles of Paxton distract him from performing his attorney general duties. Barragán stated that Krause believes that he could come to the AG’s office with a conservative perspective.

In other news, the new law on abortion faces a federal court challenge in Texas. The Justice Department has asked a state court to keep the law from being implemented. While the court declined the DOJ’s request, it granted a hearing about the case on October 01, 2021, stating that it was way too complicated for an injunction.
